How To Stay Positive
Updated: Mar 11, 2019
Life is a very interesting little game of struggles and more struggles.
It can feel like the world is caving in on you and it's hard not to feel depressed when you have student loans, bills, family, significant other and etc... However, that doesn't mean you can’t get through it!

Everyone’s path is not the same I can assure you. While all my friends were accepting great job offers, I was still the last one struggling to find a job. It was embarrassing. So one day, I just got so frustrated with how my life was going, I decided to start my own blog.
Long story short, I just wanted to kick some butt and with the help of my amazing mom who always encouraged me, I was able to launch my own business. I hope these tips help you out like they did for me!
Remember you can get through this.
1. Watch some funny videos.
You need to get some laughs going. Notice how good you feel when you laugh? I wish I could capture it in a bottle and just use it whenever I need to. Check out ”worst death scene ever”. If you see a weird looking guy with a mustache, you know you clicked the right video. In fact I'm going to link it right here so you can witness this amazing-ness. I promise you will pee yourself.

2. Listen to uplifting music
One song that always makes me feel better is Miracles by Coldplay. It always makes me want to tear up in a good way. It just makes you appreciate life and to keep on pushing through. Please check it out if you haven't already and also the movie Unbroken as well.

3. Dress sharp
It's amazing how just ONE outfit alone can change your entire mood and perception of yourself. Even if you’re home alone, you should still put an outfit together. Now throw that leather jacket on and some red lipstick.
Btw, The Devil Wear Prada is such a good movie! Love this scene.

4. Express gratitude
When you thank people and appreciate the little things, it really helps to put in perspective the kind of person you would want to be friends with. You're serving as an inspiration to someone. Doing this allows you to feel good about yourself because you're a more understanding empathetic person and makes you feel connected to others. People will want to be your friend and around you.

5. Exercise
This one makes me sad... just kidding haha. Even though this one isn't the most fun thing to do, exercising is so good for your brain and releases feel good chemicals! I'm not a gym junkie but after I started going for a little bit, I didn't mind it so much. If you can keep it up for one month, you're golden.

6. Write it out
Jot down your goals. Writing allows you to remember things a lot better. If you can physically see your goals, you're more likely to fulfill them which leads to happiness! I highly recommend buying a nice planner to write your goals in so you'll be more organized and motivated to do them.

7. Meditate
Meditation has been known for many health benefits as well as a great way to eliminate tremendous stress. This can come in handy when you feel super stressed out at work or need to calm yourself down. You'll be able to find peace and let go of negative thoughts much easier this way. You can listen to relaxing music or a guided mediation on YouTube to make your experience better.

8. Go outside
If you feel like you've been cooped up inside, that's a sign you need some nature unless it's really cold outside. Don't go outside if it's cold. I'm just kidding but seriously you'll freeze your butt off.

9. Talk to someone
This one may seem a little strange because when I'm depressed I don't like talking to people about my problems. I'm always worried they're going to judge me or constantly bring them up every time I talk to them. You don't have to tell everyone you know but just confiding in ONE person will make you feel like you're not alone. I'm sure that person would be more than happy to share their own story with you.

10. Avoid negative people
It's crazy how important it is to keep your mind in a positive manner. Your body will do what your mind tells it. If you're feeding it nasty things, you won't get good results. NEGATIVE PEOPLE WILL BRING YOU DOWN. It’s not worth it.

11. Treat Yourself
Take the time to get a little pampering. Don’t put yourself on the back burner. When you put in the extra time to enjoy a relaxing bath or a face mask, you’re subconsciously telling your brain that you care about yourself and deserve to feel good. Plus, it helps reduce stress which in turn makes for more happiness. Yeah! 😍

12. Unplug
I think most people can say they're mildly addicted to the internet. Sometimes when I'm on social media I get anxiety and sad depending what my friends are doing. I know it's tough but try to limit the time you spend on it. You'll feel better by going outside or picking up a new hobby.

13. Listen to some rock
Okay we’re going to change things up a bit. Now, I want you to listen to some upbeat kick butt music. Put an epic movie soundtrack on. May I suggest Lord of the Rings, Inception, Dark Knight Rises, or The Matrix soundtrack. Hey even video game music works just as well!
